Description

This module will introduce students to generic concepts of Human Factors in particular interaction between a user and computer systems and/or service, and how the interaction can be evaluated. Students will learn about interface design and the data gathering process, as well as exploring aspects of user experience, usability and accessibility.

Aims

The aim of this module is to provide students with: the opportunity to evaluate and design in relation to the Human Factors of computing systems taking into consideration aspects of usability and accessibility.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this module the student should be able to:

  1. Critically appraise Human Factors and User experience in relation to computer systems
  2. Apply state of the art techniques in assessing and creating Human Factor concepts in relation to interfaces within the context of computer systems.
  3. Design a Human Factors experiment to investigate human computer interaction in relation to a computer system and utilise processes for assessing usability and accessibility.
