<p>You will develop your fundamental numerical skills, your understanding of percentages, decimals, fractions, and concepts like appreciation, depreciation, and rounding. Through problem-solving and reasoning exercises, you will accurately analyse everyday situations, identify issues, and develop logical connections to arrive at well-informed decisions.</p>

Furthermore, financial skills will be a key focus, encompassing budgeting, managing income and expenditure, comprehending interest rates, and making informed decisions about savings and borrowing.</p>

The aim of this module is to equip you with numeracy and problem-solving skills that can be applied to everyday life situations across various disciplines. 1 Numerical Skills

You will establish your fundamental numerical skills which encompass understanding percentages, decimals, and fractions, appreciation and depreciation and rounding.

2 Problem Solving and Reasoning

Through Problem-solving and reasoning you will analyse everyday situations, identifying issues, developing solutions such as rearranging equations, and making logical connections to arrive at informed and effective decisions.

3 Fundamentals of Statistics

You will consider the fundamentals of statistics encompass measures like mean, median, and mode, aiding in data interpretation, comparing data sets and standard deviation.

4 Financial Skills

Understanding Financial skills involve budgeting, managing income and expenditure, understanding interest rates, and making informed decisions regarding savings and borrowing. This will enable you to apply numerical skills to real-life situations.

Guidance Notes

SCQF Level - The Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework provides an indication of the complexity of award qualifications and associated learning and operates on an ascending numeric scale from Levels 1-12 with SCQF Level 10 equating to a Scottish undergraduate Honours degree.

Credit Value – The total value of SCQF credits for the module. 20 credits are the equivalent of 10 ECTS credits. A full-time student should normally register for 60 SCQF credits per semester.
