Statement on Teaching, Learning and Assessment

This module is designed for students who have a particular interest they wish to develop. As the student designs their own objectives in consultation with the staff, it requires discipline and good independent study skills on their part. Based on the topic selection the student will be assigned a supervisor at the start of the semester who will offer support and direction directly through meetings but the work itself will be self−directed. This sits in line with the Abertay attributes developing skills along with knowledge, giving the student opportunities to be decision makers, to work independently, be motivated to continue learning and show determination and ambition. After initial meetings with the supervisor to agree learning outcomes and a work schedule the student will be responsible for directing, planning and organisation of their learning and carrying out work. The first assessment is to provide rationale for the topic and assessment type to be assessed in Unit 2 along with proposed learning outcomes.
